Google has opened Search Console's generative AI performance reports to every website worldwide. The Google Search Central Blog post from June 3, which first announced the reports, now carries an added note saying it is "making these insights available to all websites worldwide as of August 31, 2026." Search Engine Journal reported that the same wording was added to the help page for the opt-out setting, Search generative AI control.
The reports are called Search Generative AI performance reports, with separate versions for Search and Discover. They show, broken down by page, country and date, how many times a site's URLs appeared in AI Overviews, AI Mode and Discover's generative AI features. Dates can be viewed by hour, day, week or month, and the Search report adds one more breakdown, by device.
Click data was still missing as of when Search Engine Journal's article was published. Google said in its June post that this data would continue to be included in the overall Performance report. The help page still states that the rollout is ongoing, and Google added that sites with little AI exposure may not see the report at all.
Opt-Out Setting and Regulatory Deadline
Search generative AI control is a per-property setting in Search Console settings. Turning it on removes a site's links and content from AI Overviews, AI Mode and Discover's AI features, along with any exposure and traffic those features generated. Google said it does not use this setting as a ranking signal elsewhere in Search, and that a separate setting, Google-Extended, controls whether content is used for AI training.
It began on June 3. Google announced the reports and the opt-out setting together, testing it with a select group of UK site owners, and on the same day the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) imposed a conduct requirement on Google to let sites opt out of AI search features without being penalized in general search rankings. The opt-out setting began appearing in accounts outside the UK from July.
The CMA set Google a deadline of March 2027 to introduce page-level controls. For now, only the property-level setting is available. Regulators also expect click data, but this announcement said nothing about click reporting, and Google must report on its compliance every six months during the first year.
In Korea
According to the note Google added, Korean sites can also see the same report after August 31. It sits under the Search Console Performance report, as a separate view showing only impressions from generative AI features. However, the figures shown are impression counts, so they don't reveal how many actual visits resulted after appearing in AI Overviews or AI Mode, and visit numbers still need to come from traffic data in an analytics tool like GA4.
