GEO Times changelog

September 2026

September 2, GEO Times launches

GEO Times took its first step at geotimesnews.com.

Our main beat is measuring and recording which companies and brands generative AI search recommends and which websites it cites as sources.

The engines measured are the major generative AIs, including ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude. We do not judge from a single answer; measurement begins by repeating the same question several times and checking whether a company appears and which sources are cited.

Alongside the launch we published About GEO Times and our reporting and measurement standards.

Articles carry a type label so their nature is clear: international developments, measured, comparison, guide, experiment and opinion. Measured articles state the date, AI engine, question and number of runs by default.

Measurements starting in September

The first regular measurement starts with questions about Korean GEO vendors.

We select questions a real user would use when looking for a vendor, such as "recommend a GEO agency" or "generative AI search optimization company", and enter them identically into the major AI engines. We will record which vendors appear repeatedly and which web pages each engine presents as evidence.

Rather than a one-off, we will measure the same questions again over a period and look at how the results change.

We will also cover AI search news and research from Google, OpenAI, Perplexity and others, checking the original, summarizing the main points in Korean and showing the source.

English editions of articles will follow.

September 5, first six articles

We published five international news summaries and one guide, in Korean and English. The news pieces cover the worldwide rollout of Search Console's generative AI reports, the Ten Speed study that found product pages take 24.1% of AI citations, the expansion of ChatGPT Ads to Europe, India, the Middle East and North Africa, Gemini 3.8 Flash joining Google's AI Mode with its citation bug fixed the next day, and research on people using search and AI together.

The guide explains how to check for yourself whether your company appears in AI answers. Each news summary lists the original outlet, its publication date and the date we checked it.

This record keeps growing.

New measurement questions, changes to the measurement method, revisions to editorial standards and other major changes that affect GEO Times articles are recorded on this page with dates.

Past entries are not deleted. When the method changes, the previous standard and the date of the change remain visible together.
