Google has unveiled a UGC Fresh Data Program that gets new posts from forums and community sites into Search faster than regular crawling. The details appeared in Google's developer documentation, and Search Engine Roundtable reported it on October 8. Google described it as "an initiative designed to help platforms display fresh, high quality, and authentic user-generated content across various features on Search."
Approved sites can send new posts and engagement signals, such as likes or comment counts, directly to Google through a separate pipeline from the Indexing API or normal crawling. Google said data coming through this channel can also reach features that draw on fresh web content more quickly, including AI Overviews and Gemini.
The requirements are fairly strict. Content must sit on dedicated pages with stable URLs rather than profile or feed pages, the site needs a meaningful volume of UGC and users, and only publicly viewable content qualifies, with nothing gated behind a login. OAuth 2.0 authentication and schema markup, specifically SocialMediaPosting or DiscussionForumPosting, are both required.
New posts must be submitted within minutes of being written, and engagement counters need to update within 72 hours. Sites also need an active moderation and reporting system in place. Applications go through a Google form, and a response can take six to eight weeks.
Google was explicit that joining the program doesn't guarantee search visibility. The technical documentation itself is only shared once an application is accepted.
Eligibility is limited to forums, communities, and social platforms, so this isn't a channel an ordinary business site can use directly. Even so, it signals that Google is placing growing weight on how current a site's content is when it feeds AI features.
In Korea
Korean sites running a forum or community are worth checking the eligibility requirements, though a typical business site isn't a candidate for this program yet. The underlying trend, how quickly new content reaches Search and AI answers, is still worth watching for any content publisher.
